My answer is and always will be: absolutely! Regardless of whether you’re newly engaged or have been engaged for a while, I strongly recommend couples opt for an engagement session.

While your wedding day is, without a doubt, one of the most special days of your life (and probably one of the biggest parties you’ll ever throw!), it is totally different to your day-to-day life.

I believe that documenting yourself in an everyday setting is one of the best gifts you can give to your future self, something your children can look back on decades down the road. It’s a snapshot of two people who are embarking on a journey together; that’s definitely something worth remembering!
Ultimately, your engagement session should be about you as a couple, and the things you most enjoy doing together. Maybe you both love adventure and spend as much of your free time hiking and canoeing as possible. Maybe you’re a laidback couple who like spending your Saturday mornings cozied up at a cafe with a cup of coffee. To me, nothing is better and more enjoyable to photograph than people who are truly, authentically, and unapologetically themselves.

I also recommend engagement sessions because they help you get to know your photographer better, and feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
